Citizens, local communities and relevant organisations in Greenland affected by mineral activities may seek funds to initiate studies and to identify issues, as well as for meetings on the project’s impact on society. See section 130 of the Mineral Resources Act.
Section 130 requires the Government of Greenland to set up a pool of funds from which affected citizens, local communities and relevant organisations in Greenland may seek funds to initiate studies and to seek advice to identify specific issues relating to specific mineral projects in Greenland and to meet on the project’s impact on society.
Funding can only be requested after an application; terms of reference or project description has been submitted for consultation or pre-consultation.
The Government of Greenland shall lay down the details of the fund.
